A teaspoon of sand into your intake manifold while the car is running will cause a significant loss of compression, best case scenario.

I'm not overly familiar with the stock intake, the holes for water drainage are 'before' the filter, correct?
i think your right... what do you think i should do to fix it? i know number one replace the box itself...any suggestions

x just a question what should i do now.. should i bring it to the dealer.. ?

and what would a hot intake do to the engine any damage>?

sorry still a newbie
If sand has gotten past your filter, you need to find out how far it got into the engine and clean as much out as possible and then pray nothing bad happens later. You may need to take the intake manifold off the inspect it. At the very least, you should get a long narrow extension on a vacuum cleaner and reach in there and suck it out as best you can.
A HOT air intake does no damage to your engine. It just robs it of horsepower.

Now you have to ask HOW did sand get past that filter? Is the filter damaged? Did it somehow get punctures in it? Is it not sealed properly to the intake tube?

The drain holes are "before" the filter. One is located on the bottom of the first chamber and another one is located on the bottom of the filter chamber.

The filter is there to protect your engine! I have found stones sometimes and some others even birds!

JFC! Please unless there was a visible hole in the air filter or it wasn't on tightly sealed no sand got in your engine. That's why there is an air filter there. To trap particles and keep them out of the engine, Think about all the people who don't have a box! That sand is nothing, use a vaccum cleaner and suck that crap out of the box and keep the filter on while your doing it so none of it gets past the air filter. If you really did get sand in your engine well then your good and screwed but I doubt that happened.

Is there any sand flowing out of the tail pipes?

Any telltale sand mounds under the exhaust after parking overnight?
