Default SC Came Today - Should I Wait?

The Comptech SC came today. I'll get it tomorrow. I have a problem - only 1700 miles on my S. I really wanted to wait until the 3500-mile oil change so that rings will be seated well before the SC pumps up the compression. Another reason to wait is just in case anything comes up in warranty- I'd like to have my engine backed up at least till the first oil change. Maybe I'll take an 1800 mile trip this weekend!

At 1700 miles I'd wait. I had 7000 on mine when my SC was installed and it's been fine. I'd be a little nervous at 1700.

I'd say wait too even though I know how hard it will be.

To you guys with S/C's. At what rpm (say in 1st gear) does the effect of the S/C become apparent. I know that initially, all S/C's have a parasitic draw on the engine till there is sufficient boost to give you that "kick". Most domestic turbos tend to kick in at about 2000 - 2500 rpm but the S2000 has such a high rev range, I'm really curious.

i rode with a guy who had the Comptech S/C several weekends ago at Buttonwillow's full course and didn't feel the effect until approx. 6000 rpm, or roughly when VTEC engages..but it comes with a nice, strong punch..

Just send that SC my way! I'll keep it till you get 10,000 miles on your Stook! This way its out of sight, and you won't have to keep looking/thinking about it!!!!!

The nature of the Comtech centrifugal is that nearly all of the "real" torque comes on at or in the VTEC range.
