Default Scratches on windshield tape?

I looked at the black windshield tape closely under sunlight, I saw tiny scratches all over the surface of the tape itself..... Anyone noticed that?

How do you remove minor scratches off plastic tape?

Thanks.

I have these too and my theory (backed up by many posts on this forum) is that the aerodynamics of the car drive objects into the whole windshield. These objects will scratch the tape and in some cases pit the windshield.

If you want to test this theory drive your S2000 for a while then drive another car on the same stretch of road. Then notice the S2000 has a lot more debris on the windshield (bugs, dirt, possibly more scratches).

This seems to be a sad side effect to our wicked shaped noses.

Carlson, just take the tape off! That's what I did and I am so happy now!

I'm not saying removing the tape is a bad idea, but search on this topic and read what others have gone through before you do it. Maybe it will work well, but be informed.

Airgate - your car looks great with the tape removed, have you noticed the painted area on the window frame is getting pitted? I hope not but I tend to be a bit parnoid :-)
