doesnt it make more sense to get a proximety alarm? that way if someone gets to close to the car it will just go off opposed to getting seat locks and risking having your top cut open and all else..

I'm trying to get the Anti-theft seat lock sticker that will deter most thieves. A proximity alarm is a bit $$$ for me atm so these seat locks are a much cheaper alternative.

I took the advice from this S2KCA member and made my own.

I used this technique and stuck a cap on top of the hex head. The silicone acts as an adhesive for the cap. Now if I could only get my hands on some of those McGard Anti Theft stickers. I may just have to go online and get some custom made. I'll distribute whatever I have leftover to members here.

I used a "keyed" hex screw as well. If you own the bit on the right you're the only other person I would have known to have one. Again, I will glob generous amounts of silicone.

brilliant.

gator shit? do you mean vice grips? I guess you could but that bolt is pretty well torqued and down in there. In a frenzy one would most likely strip it, assuming the thief just so happened to be carrying the proper tool.

*edit*

I just realized, do you mean that socket thingy with a bunch of pins in it that conforms to the shape of a socket? That thing looks like a POS IMO. I don't know anyone that owns one of those.

I'm in the same boat - ordered mine 3 weeks ago from Kodokan. With all these seat theft posts I'm getting anxious.

great idea----are the bolts "grade 8" strength? (hate to see them shear off in an accident)

I'm not sure of the SAE rating. I'll have to call the shop I got them from and ask. I'm assuming the factory bolt is an SAE 8 rating. I'm seeing an 8 with a line under it on the top of the factory bolt unless I'm misinterpreting it.

And here's the link to the original DIY where I got the idea from.

http://forums.s2kca.com/showthread.php?t=14972

I've thought about the replacement bolts I've used and realize that anyone could get possibly find the key I have to remove the bolt. This is quite a longshot though, what kind of thief carries around security hex keys when they do runs? One would really have to know what they're after.

Anyways, as an added measure of security I've decided to seal the front and rear bolt hex openings with solder. If someone is after my seats I'm going to make it as frustrating as possible so they just give up.
