Do you think if you put aftermarket seats in your S they still would steal them? What if you had some Recaros or Brides, do you think the odds would be less?

If you're just interested in protecting your seats, ask yourself, "How many times am I going to take out my seats?

If they answer never or maybe once, why not just tighten them down and round them off.

If you ever do need to take them out then an easyout from Sears will remove them. Thieves don't carry easyouts and drills.

When you put them back just grab some new bolts at the hardware store.

Do what I did. Buy "button bolts" in the correct size and pitch that match the oem bolts. Screw them down with red-loctite then fill in the allen hole with jb weld. I challenge anyone to remove them in under an hour. And no......I'm not falling into this idiocy of "I don't want to piss of the thieves and have them damage the car out of spite" bs.

Where did you get these button bolts? I tried looking for some hex bolts that are the same size and pitch as the OEM but was not successful

I'm a huge fan of Loctite but believe me it shouldn't be overused...I speak from experience (I Loctited my shift knob once and it was nearly impossible to remove)

this would be a good idea for the seat bolt except if you have to remove them for some reason (ie: going to aftermarket seats, removing the seats to do some kind of install, etc...)...of course if you have an air gun you may have better success removing them lol

if your car is parked outside and you find that it is at risk I would just get the Kodokan seat locks...I've always wanted to get them but I just got lazy and besides my car is garage kept...but I hear they're the best...you do have to worry about one thing that has been discussed on other seat lock threads...if some thieves can't steal your seats they may just slash them and carp your whole interior...if they're complete scum vandals...

Neuronbob do I remember you from Acurazine? Was checking out a new TL today - sweet.
You caught me! Indeed, I'm a mod on AZ.

I love my S, though, and can't wait until spring when I drive it again.

Back on topic, I garage mine and while at work, I can physically see my car from my office. I've got an aftermarket alarm with page alarm and shock sensor. Even so, I'm getting seat locks simply out of a sense of paranoia. Why make it easy for thieves?

Go to a fastener specialty store like fastenal. They can match up the pitch size and such. Just be sure to get the right grade of bolt. You can also just fill it up with black silicon to still make it hard but not impossible for you to get it out yourself.

It's never happened. But you can still drive a car with ripped seats. Can't drive a car with no seats. Lots of members on here where the S2000 is there only car. We currently have a local guy who is car-less and stuck paying the fees for a rental while the insurance company deals with totaling the car or not.
