Default Seatback storage - need installation advice

Has anyone installed the OEM seatback storage?

If yes, did you get the darn clip locked or do you just let it hang loose?

If you use the clip lock, how tough was it for you to get it connected and did you end up using a hammer?

Trying to figure out my options short of returning it.

Thanks

Installed the "behind the seat storage pouch" on my '01. Directions say to use a drill to enlarge the hole for the snap. This will allow the rubber portion of the snap to fit into the hole. You don't want to drill out the hole too much, use successively larger bits until you get to the right size.

FYI, on my '02 I didn't bother with mounting the snap as I really didn't see any point to it. The pouch doesn't go anywhere while it's behind the passenger seat.

When I installed mine, I had to take the plug/snap out of the hole in the car and work the two halves of the snap together on the workbench a couple of times. And yes, I did use a hammer the first time. I couldn't snap the snap even with the thing on the workbench without the hammer. I kept the screw in the snap and used a deep 1/4" drive deep socket with the hammer to snap it; then I could pry against the washer on the screw to unsnap it. The second time, I could snap it by hand.

I bought one of the pouches when I got my car a little over a year ago. It is behind passenger seat. Reading this thread made me remember that to this day I have never used it. What do you guys use it for? I guess I could move my manual out of the secret component into it.

So far I have a couple of flares and some spare fuses in the mesh pocket, a AAA mini-mag flashlight in the pocket that looks like it's for a pen or mini-mag, and not much else. However, I bought the car in November and haven't driven it but about 1500 miles due to the weather. Who knows what else will wind up in the storage pouch over time. Probably a road atlas, for sure.

i have one behind each seat... did not install the lower fastener- they used to just hang from the top. and actually they dont do that anymore either since i have the lucid speakers! they are just sitting behind the seats now.
i have the front license plate in one of them and the reg slip and insurance info- i agree not very useful!
i keep most other stuff in the trunk- in the muz trunk liner pockets... (manual, c.d.s, etc.)

Got it to fit late last night. Took the hammer to it. Pounded the snap together, then pried it loose a couple times until I could do it with a quick whack.

Got the screw in, put a flat piece of wood on top of the storage unit and smacked it into place. Holds really tightly.

I put the manual and someother basic stuff in there.

Thanks!
