So I've been debating whether and when to get the seatbelt recall done. I never actually received a recall notice, but I called American Honda and they verified that I have a recall. I've been putting it off because I didn't want mine to be the first one the dealer did and be a guinea pig. After talking with some of the Houston owners 2 weeks ago, I finally decided NOT to do the recall. After all, its not unsafe until after it breaks.

Okay, well today my passenger tries to pull out the belt... It's jammed! I tried for 15 minuets to get it unstuck. I guess I'm going to schedule that recall after all.

Wish me luck and hope the dealer doesn't screw anything up. Do you think they'll give me a loaner?

Whether or not you get a loaner depends on the dealer; some do, mine doesn't.

Dave

I don't think you should worry about the recall. I have had mine done with no problems. It takes hours though. Apparently, they have to remove the seats etc just to get into the housings.

i had mine done a couple of weeks ago. after the recall i had pinging noise behind the passenger seat every time i went over a bump. it turned out that the spare tire housing was loose. no problems since.

Is it just me or is there a general lack of trust or questions on the ability of Honda servicing in the USA? There seem to have been a lot of posts from people complaining about service/problem reltaed issues

I've had dealer service problems with every dealer I've ever had. I'm a former bike mechanic though so it may just be that I'm expecting too much (like good service and diagnosis.) It's definitly not just a Honda problem. I'm dreading even taking mine in.
