Default seats are stuck

Hello,

Been lurking for a while and recently got a salvaged s2k from flood damage.

Before my mechanic would look at it, he insists I remove the carpet from the interior (health issues). I'm trying to remove the seats so I can take out the carpet but I can't get to the two rear seat rail bolts because the seats are stuck solid. I've sprayed the rails with WD-40, let it sit and tried to move it by sitting in it and trying to budge it and also by grabbing it--no luck.

Anyone know of any way to get the seats to move? Or to get the seats off any other way (than removing the rear seat rail bolts)?

Thanks in advance!

Do the seat locks prevent the seat from sliding on the rails? If they did use anti-seize, is there an anti-anti-seize?

Have you tried to actually sit in the seat and while holding the release lever, use your body weight to rock it back and forth? I've also heard that the rod or cable that connects the release lever to the release lock can come detached. This might be your situation. Use the other seat as a point of reference to see where the lock tab is. You might be able to reach under and operate with your hand.

one sugestion to you is, sit in the seat with all your weight, grab steering wheel with one hand and "adjuster" with the other and try pushing or pulling with your feet. I think this could work, at least for me (280 lbs)

yeah, i did sit it in and try sliding it forward, rocking even, both in the driver's and passenger seats. I'll check the cable and see if that's what it is.

thanks, i'll keep you all posted.

The S2000 Seat Locks only lock down the seat to the floor, they don't prevent the seat from sliding.

It sounds like the seat rails rusted from the flood.

Look closely at the rails with a flashlight and determine if the seat is in the full rearward position. If it is not, pull the seat release lever, and at the same time give a crisp tap on the front of the seat rail with a hammer. You may need to tap both sides a couple of times to break loose the rust.

Yeah, that's what I thought about the seat locks.

I think both seats are all the way back. Thanks for the advice. I'm going to try that, tapping the rails with a hammer.

btw, still interested in getting those seat locks of yours... once i get my damn seats off! If i can't get them off, maybe i won't need them after all
