Default Secret Compartment and treasure

Thanks s2ki,

I have my 2003 for less than a month, the more I read in this forum, the more I learn about the car. Like the secret compartment, I found the front license plate screw hole plugs which I was going to buy. Not to mention space for sunglass ... I would not have known without this informative forum.

Me too. I found the owner's manual I thought I was going to have to purchase. After one month of owning the car, I learn of the "secret compartment". In it, the owner's manual!

that's funny. the previous owner of my car purchased a new owners manual because the original was in the "secret" compartment. i found it during my test drive and he didn't even know the compartment exisisted. he owned it for over 2 years!

I owned my s2000 for a month, and finally decided to read the owners manual (which for me came in the trunk). As i was reading through it i found out about the "secret compartment", my eyes wided! I ran down to the garage and searched through it. I'm like "This car has so many suprises!"

why didn't I see this thread before I purchased a manual from Helm's for $40 bucks. I actually discovered the "secret compartment" while reading my newly purchased owner's manual. Immediately after reading it, I thought, damn, that f*#@*@$ manual better not be in there. Sure enough....

Same thing happened to us - we bought the car and the previous owner said he "lost" the owners manual. Lo and behold, there it was in the secret compartment.

Why would any of you guys who purchased a new S2000 buy an owners manual from the dealer. Wouldn't your first step be to inform your dealer that your new car didn't come with one? At which point perhaps the dealer would either show you the "secret compartment" or get you an owners manual for no charge. After dropping $32k on a new car I'd be damned if I'd spend 5 cents on a manual that's supposed to come with the car in the first place.
