Security systems
I just got MY04 Silverstone/Black. What aftermarket security systems are recommended? Having owned Corolla and Accord in the past, this is like a big leap for me and am pretty sure that I need one, a good one for that matter. Advice anyone? TIA
I just went through this after having my car broken into -- definitely a good idea to get before someone cuts into your top.
The big thing is to get the 'dual zone proximity sensor' - all alarm systems use the same sensor. As far as a manufacturer, I am sure you can search the site and get everyone's opinions on it but what it really comes down to is a good installation. I would find a shop that does a good job first and then worry about what systems they sell. (You don't what someone to be able to easily disconnect your alarm.)
I went with Viper. I also heard Clifford was good and Alipine, too.

Do a search or better yet, browse thru the electronics forums.
I'd get a pager alarm, but that's my preference. It doesn't matter what brand your alarm is if you have a "generic" install. Backup battery, backup horn, kill switch, hiding the brain, etc.; there are many things you can do.
