Default See-through bra?

According to the dealer from whom I'll be taking delivery of my
new '03 S on Friday (Silverstone/Red), there's a guy in the KC
area who can install a transparent "bra" over the front of the
car to protect the paint from chips, etc.

If I understood the process correctly, the "bra" (made from some type of
space age plastic?) is custom fit to the front of the car, virtually invisible,
and will not fade the paint beneath it (unlike those black leather things)
While not "permanent" (it can be cut off at anytime), it's intended to be
left on 24/7.

Has anyone here heard of this or know of something similar that I can do
if I want to keep the front of the car reasonably free of chips and dings?

Thanks,

PCz

The term used is "clear-bra", which is also the name of a company that makes the product. 3M also makes a clear bra film called scotchcal. I have it on my car, and I know lots of other on here do as well. I personally think it's the best investment I've done for my car. It's saved my paint on several occasions.

Euclid,

Yep, that's it! I remember now that he mentioned the bra was made by 3M. Approximately how much should I expect to pay for one of these? And, how long does it take to install?

I hear they are a nice investment and it will protect you from the majority of stuff thrown at you. But, if you want to keep it looking brand new, garage it. You're going to hit stuff on the road, it's inevitable.

I had it done through the dealership before I picked the car up, and it cost me $350 to have the front bumper, head lights, side mirrors, and ~12" up the hood and fenders done. I know it usually costs about ~$300-500

I had it done a few weeks ago in South Florida.
$600 for entire front, above headlights, ~12" on the hood, mirrors, door cups, and door sills.

Install time was 3 hours...It is applied much the same as window tinting.

If you have the time and talent you can buy a kit for about half that. Check out Invinca-shield.com for more info.
