Are you a Honda fanboi or Nissan fanboi?
Took me 6 months to find the right S2000. I would say a Z is easier to find and less expensive.

I owned a Z Touring and a S2k at the same time a few years back.
if I was going any great distance on highways, I drove the Z.
if I was going for a fun weekend blast on country back roads, I drove the S2k.
neither is good for dogs, neither is good for hauling people/luggage.
neither is good for a week's worth of grocery shopping.
they are adequate for those type of daily chores.
i think they are equally reliable, but previous ownership maintenance records are a plus.
i sold my S2k, ended up buying another s2k 60 days later that I will not sell.
i sold the Z. Not in a hurry for another one.
Drive both and see which one works for you.

I'd like a 370z, one of the few cars I'd buy if I ever sold my s2k.

Automatic transmission is only available on the Z, if that is of importance.

what are your opinions on both cars? Is the maintenance cost for an s2k expensive? Also have any of you owned both cars?
please help me find which one is the right car. All comments will be appreciated!
I'll just write the things that pop up in my head.

I'd take the newest 370z Nismo over the S2000 or the CR. Nismo Z is super sexy.
I know 350z runs out of breath around 5k RPM which was a big no no for me but I don't know how 370z performs at high RPM.
S2000 definitely is a screamer which pulls hard all the way to the redline which is what a true sports car should be.
For daily duties, I'd take the 370z because S2000 has 0 tq in low RPM.
I wouldn't park my S2000 outside and leave it there for more than 5 minutes. I would with 370z.
Looks wise, I'm a fan of both. I love the big hips on the Z and I love the front of the S2000. if S2000 had wider hips from factory, it'd be game over though.
Track events favors coupe over convertible unless you get roll cage in the S2000.
370z out of the box is a superior car, faster car.
My S2000 stays in the garage almost all the time because I'm scared of theft. and I now have 2 kids so if you got any kid plans, look for another car with 4 seats.
Did I mention the Nismo Z is super hot?

Two are very different cars.

The 370Z is easier to live with daily, more power and space everywhere, more forgiving for novice drivers, more features/convenience gadgets, bigger. The S2000 is more raw, edgier, sharper, more special, more memorable.

To me, there are many cars which you can get the similar driving experience / feel to the 370Z. However, there is no car which feels like the S2000 - it's so unique.

Pictures were needed here.
The 370Z doesn't do it for me and I owned a 300ZX for 16 years.

A convertible Z just doesn't look right...However, I see where Nissan got their inspirations from tho

I just wish I had a hardtop for my s2000, this is just my opinion, but the soft top makes the s2000 instantly look like a woman's car, I'm kinda embarrassed to be seen driving a soft-top car, it'll be getting a hardtop asap.
