Default SEV Power redux - a modest proposal

(Note: For background, please see here.)

OK folks, let's settle this. I will give US$5,000 to anyone who can make SEV work on MY CAR and PROVE IT. That is above and beyond the cost of the SEV plus whatever testing is needed to convince me. The plan:

1) We establish a performance baseline for my car by a mutually agreed-upon method, such as either a dyno (your choice of what type), consistent acceleration runs under controlled conditions, or both. You cover the testing costs (not including gas, wear/tear on the vehicle, etc. -- just the dyno time, GTech, or whatever).
2) You install the SEV(s) on my car at your own expense.
3) We repeat the testing in step 1 and examine the results.

If step 3 demonstrates repeatable, unambiguous performance gains commensurate with advertised claims, I will reimburse you for all costs, plus pay you US$5,000. If not, I pay you nothing and keep the SEV as a souvenir.

The fine print:
A) Safety is paramount, and you must show the product is safe. For example, if you claim this devices works via (sub)atomic particle radiation, you must prove that the radiation level is harmless. We will agree upon a verification method when the time comes.
B) We will each have a single, mutually-agreed-upon, third-party
Inspector/Advocate/Representative. An Advocate must be a "1st-gear" or higher member of this board, or be vouched for by one. The Advocates will:
- Prevent "cheating" (e.g. unauthorized performance mods, good or bad)
- Serve as technical advisors
- Oversee testing, installation, etc.
- Document the process and provide status updates to this board
- Jointly give the final, binding ruling on the results. In the event of irreconcilable disagreement between the Advocates, a "tie" judgment goes in my favor (since after all the burden of proof is on you). However, in this case I will either return the SEV or reimburse the test costs, whichever I prefer.

Any takers?
John

P.S. Yes, I am serious.

$5000 USD is a very generous and confident proposal on your part, and seeing a loser would only be out the worthless SEV and not $5000, I'm game. While $750 is a pretty expensive lottery ticket to $5,000, if something amazing were to happen you could just send $5K to Scott at King and have him ship me the CF hardtop.
So I'll buy the $750 SEV package lottery ticket, and let Mingster or Prolene act as a neutral 3rd party in Los Angeles. I doubt I can prove it is safe because I have no clue to what it is so you be the judge if you wish to proceed with it as advertised at Racing Craft.
Keep the board up to date with positive or negative results as best your time allows. Run five 0 to100's and five 0 - 60's without it and then with it. Product claims a 6 - 10 HP increase to meet its claim so obviously you should cut times. Your game, lay out the final specifics and I'll confirm.

4373,
I'm looking into the an Alpine head unit roughly the same price as the SEV. If you supply the stereo and it can give me 5+ BHP, I'll get you the CF hardtop, too:

Seriously, good luck on the project. I'm very skeptical too, but I'd love to see this SEV thing work.

I'm not as skeptical about the SEV as the rest of you. I haven't read through the material very closely, but I believe the idea is it works a lot like the air cleaners you buy at sharper image. These have no moving parts whatsoever and actually blow air by ionizing it. Go to the Sharper Image and see for yourself if you don't believe me. Anyway, I'm not gunna risk my $$$ on it, but I'd be happy to come out and act as the 3rd party observer. I'm in Riverside, so LA isn't much of a drive from here.

But someone owes me dinner if I come out and observe

Please note that the street SEV is about $750 but I think the real racing SEV is somewhere between $1500 and $2500, which is the one that should really be tested. . .

Why would you invest 500% more money in a TEST?
And the original topic was that I didn't want to overlook 6 - 10 HP for $750, not 20 HP for $3400. Unless you want to be the bank I think it's pretty nice someone else is willing to put up two days pay to see if something even works.
