She's been Using Regular Unleaded!?
To OP no offense but if you can feel the difference in gas, I think you should work for NASA! LOL
Give me a break you are looking for a used car, not a rocketship. Get ready to travel a long distance or wait till you are old and grey before you find a car if this is how you plan to shop for a used car.
I'm super anal about my cars but just because someone uses regular gas would not be too much of a factor for me if it was well cared for. I've seen a lot worse abused AMG 100k cars go for more miles with lesser maintenance. The s2000 is bulletproof in most respects, I would worry about the soft top and other costs if I were you.
Your WTB post is pretty hilarious too

If the car felt fine and was checked out by the mechanic then I wouldn't worry to much about the fuel used. I am sure they can use one of the little cameras to look inside the motor and see if there is anything to be worried about. If you did get it just change out all the fuilds right away to something quality like AMSoil and run some kind of good fuel cleaner.
However the price of the car is high. I paid $19,500 for my 2005 NFR with 22k miles just a year ago. I think they need to come down in price by at least $3k. $18 is a little on the low end for the color and miles but $19-20k is fair. Just keep an eye on it and call them regularly to see if they want to sell it for that price.
Oh and tell them if they want to charge $5k over blue book they should be trying to save $.10 a gallon on gas and to start outting premium in it going forward.

Try putting some regular in your car next time you're on E. there's no way you won't be able to feel it.
A lot can be told by reading plugs if you know what to look for. Pull them, its quick and easy, see if there is any signs of detonation. You know they never replaced them lol so you should get some good indication on how the car has been running. You can always run a bore scope, comp and leak down test. If they pass then your probably good.
Oh and don't forget to Check the oil level. Women are notorious for not doing this and on a car that can consume a little to a lot normally, the motor could be on a short trip to the dump. I'd say if its more then a half quart low on site, id probably walk away. That tells me it probably lives at that level or lower if its not due for a change in some time.

Thanks again everyone. I have persuaded the misses not to worry about the interior color and just look for a mildly used stock white S2000 instead, that should expand her options a bit. Honestly there is no rush, her Intergra is still running great with 200 thousand on the clock, talk about high integrity (pun intended
).

Too bad I don't want to sell my '05 GPW S. It's stock and has been fed super premium only. 52K on the odo.
What's the mileage on the one you're looking at? I think they're gouging unless it's under 20K.

Hello S2000 Community. My Girlfriend and I or looking at a pristine 05 GPW S that has has passed mine and a shops inspection pretty solidly. While riding with the sellers husband he mentions that she has been running regular unleaded in the car because she couldn't feel a difference. My short stint in my local community collages ASE program tells me that is a definite no no in a car with 11:1 compression. The husband couldn't tell me how long she had been using regular so this could have been happening for years. The car is otherwise fine with a few other very minor issues and I want to pull the trigger but now I'm wondering if I may be getting myself into a rebuild or new engine in the not so distant future. Anyone on this forum have experience with the long term effect of running too low octane fuel in the S2000? Should I pass on this S?
