Forget everything else anyone has said, these are the real rules of S2K driving:

1st gear is the ONLY passing gear. Downshifting to 5th does not suffice when on the highway.

Clutch dumps strengthen the transmission internals and help circulate fluid in the differential.

Tires need to be changed often. Every 50,000 - 120,000 miles.

Experiment with mixing different tire sizes and treads. Find what you like.

Your S2000 may burn oil every few thousand miles. Replace burned oil with canola oil to prevent this.

50-50 racing is a great place to take care of all your modding needs.

And finally, STAY IN VTEC. ALL THE TIME.

Lets give him real advice. That's what this forum is for =)

If yours has the plastic window convertible top, make sure you don't lower your top when it's less than 7C just to be safe. I have seen ppl crack their plastic windows before.

I drive in reverse so I don't have to shift. It handles better that way in poor weather due to it being front wheel drive.

My first S2000 newbism was not being able to find the gas tank release after leaving the dealership...so... it is the little black plastic pull tab inside the door jam on the drivers side. Please listen to what others have said about correct tire sizes and oversteer in this car! This advice comes from the unintentional sacrifice of many S2000s.

Have fun and please be safe!

I think that this thread already went through the serious helping advice section and since it's still open people refer to bs-ing and putting a smile on our faces...I know I have one from reading the last page of this thread.

To the OP...99 percent of the things stated in this last page of this thread are for the purpose of showing you that we like to have a good laugh or 2...enjoy!

[QUOTE=CKit,Mar 14 2009, 01:06 AM]With the level of sophistication in this thread, I was advising the OP not to shift mid-turn (assuming that the shift would be ill-timed and poorly executed) and upsetting the balance of the car... leading to the infamous "black ice / gravel / wet leaves and spun out" epidemic.

[QUOTE=RED MX5,Mar 15 2009, 10:48 AM] Rubn1out4GudLuk, I agree, at least to some extent, but go back and look at the first few posts. The OP asked a reasonable question and immediately got several mocking non-answers. This is followed by pages of misinformation, mixed with a few reasonable answers, and I'm concerned that someone who is looking for such basic information (as the OP) could easily end up more confused, rather than less.

The question was, "i was just wondering whats the best rpm to shift at for that car? "

Can you link to a post or group of posts that answers this question fully and correctly?

[QUOTE=Rubn1out4GudLuk,Mar 15 2009, 02:23 PM]To the OP...

Personally...I shift around 4k-5.5k rpms in daily driving...I like to experience some acceleration without going into vtec, even though I do like to vtec an abundance of times (especially entering the freeway).
