awesome thread!!!

has anyone tried out the 6-speed JDM shift knobs?

I was wondering how good/solid knobs they were.

I did weigh the JDM knob as well, this is out special heat treated JDM Ti shift knob.

The height is the same as the OEM USDM one.

Once you go countersunk, you never go back. I think thats how the saying goes.

I'd say go with the ALEX EGGO knob or the T1R B-Max if you like the OEM feel with countersunk, their shapes are quite similar with the OEM Honda knob. But Titanium blingness.

The T1R B-Max looks very appealing, the color is just awesome. It seems to be on the lighter side though, that's too bad, I would've liked it to be a bit heavier. Maybe I should try out a sphere shaped knob just for kicks.

Enlighten me. . . .

The thread on the shift knobs is, er, interesting. But what are the qualities generally associated with a good shift knob. I know everyone has different preferences but are there certain qualities that could be discussed, or is this purely a cosmetic argument?

For example, I noticed there is a difference in height of the different knobs. How does this affect the shift throw?

Shape, obviously, will produce a certain feel as you wrap you hand around the shift lever so there is that interaction to discuss (get your minds out of the gutter on this poorly worded sentence).

Also, I'm curious about the weight issue for these different knobs. Initially I suspected a lighter knob would be preferable but it seems like people are more interested in a heavier shift knob and I can now see how that would affect how the shifter feels.

Personally, I'd go for how the knob is shaped and fits my hand and the weightyness over any coloration or material considerations (aluminum vs. ti, vs. whatever) so long as the knob didn't look garish or out of place.

What are each of you looking at in these examples?
