Does anyone have a link or information on how to remove the shifter plate or the center console?

Mine is already starting to peel and was giving it a thought to do the same thing. I think it looks great. But I think first I'm gonna try to take it to the dealer to see if they will replace it for me without a charge.

Great work Captain!!

Go to http://www.ricks2k.com/info/install.html to download Rick's excellent and detailed instructions on installing the console cover and shift boot, which includes instructions on how to get to them. From that, you should have no trouble figuring out what to do.

Looks nice, I just noticed tonight that my plate looks kinda rough. So is the plate actually metal? What happens if you rub too much?! ie. is it a plastic piece with a chrome layer then the black?

thanks...............

If i soaked the trim piece in rubbing alcohol over night to loosen the paint, would that be a good idea or do you think it would eat up or warp the plastic?

Don't use any kind of organic solvent to soak the plastic.
Depending on what exact solvent you use and what kind of plastic the piece is made of you may experience drastic effects.
Ever seen what acetone does to styrofoam ?
Just try it with some rubbing compound first.
It shouldn't be that hard and you won't risk damaging anything .
