Default Shifter Question

I asked this question in under the hood, but haven't gotten a reply, so I thought I would post it here to. Really I'm just wondering if there is anything out there that will prevent you from pushing to hard on the shifter and damaging the shift forks. I had an aftermarket shifter on my last car that has some adjustable stop bolts to protect against this. I hadn't seen anything like that mentioned here before. I started thinking about this the other day when doing some "spirited" driving. Want to make sure I don't accidentally damage the tranny.

Glue thumbtacks all over the surface of the shifter knob.

Sorry, couldn't resist. I've not heard of anything, but I've also not heard of anyone having broken shift fork problems with the S. If you feel compelled to yank on something real hard, keep your hand in your lap.

hehehehe, that's pretty good. It was just something that i was curious about, not that i'm particularly worried about it. It was just nice knowing when you hit the stop you couldn't do anything wrong. That being said, the stock shifter on the mustang was terrible. You could put it into gear and still move if forward another 1/2" without moving the bottem end of the shifter. Very uncomfortable.
