Default First Post: Shifter Question

Hello! I just picked up my Grand Prix White S2000 this morning from the local dealership. I hope this message board is filled w/ information & that the S2000 experience is a pleasureable one.

All introductions aside ...while driving the vehicle today. I would notice that there was a lot of \"vibration\" in the shift knob. In other words ...just while driving around, the shift knob would move considerably. Maybe this is something that is common, but in my other Honda vehicles, this isn't a present problem. I was just wondering if this is common and should be ignored. The car seems to drive fine and everything is in great shape, it just seems there is a lot of movement in the shifter.

Thanks for your opinions!

PS I did do a boolean search using the words: shifter AND vibration - no information was found. So if I am missing something, please direct me to the appropriate thread. Thank you.

the reason this happens is because the shifter is directly connected to the transmission. theres nothing wrong w/ your car.

Normal. If your last car was a front driver and you detected little or no vibration that's because of the bungee cords they use on most front driver shifters isolate the vibration. That is also the reason they also shift like crap. The S2000 is a much more direct linkage and thus vibration does get thru.
