Shifter vibration while coasting. Is that normal.
As someone else pointed out, the S2000's shifter is bolted directly to the transmission itself. The lever you're holding with your hand is directly connected to the internal machanisms that allow you to shift the gears. It is normal to feel what's going on in there, one way or the other.
FWIW, when my car was brand new, like yours, I was also a bit dismayed at how much vibration I felt in the shifter. I don't really remember at this point (the car is 2 years old now), noticing a difference between coasting or under power but it was "very" noticable and enough for me to be concerned about. I also knew that the car was brand new so I decided to live with it for the first 1000 miles or so. As I got through the break-in period, the vibrations got much better so I decided to just let it go and see what happened. By the time I had 4 to 5k miles, it had reduced to what I considered to be more than acceptible. Now, with 31k miles on the car, it's just fine.
Give it time, it will get better!

PS: To all, there's been a number of times I've seen someone compare the S2000's shifter to some front wheel drive car like the RSX, the Prelude, or the Civic. You "can not" compare the S2000's shift feel and performance to a front wheel drive car. It's apples and oranges!
