Default Shifting into 2nd gear...

So I've had my S2K for almost 2 months and there is something that I notice while shifting into second gear. It seems a little rough to shift into second...and also makes a noise when I do. Now, the weird thing is that after I've been driving for 10 minutes or so...the noise is gone and its easy to shift into second again. I was wondering if this is normal and if anyone has experienced this? BTW I have a MY06 AP2. Let me know your thoughts and also general good manual transmission driving techniques are appreciated (newbie). Thanks!

Try changing the trans fluid with either Honda MTF or GM Synchromesh friction modified.

it is normal in the beginning of the day ... when your car and tranny is cold ... after it is warm up this should go away ...
no matter how often you change MTF, this will still be the case .. but this is normal tho . i think this tranny is one of the best once it is warmed.

my S does it also, i just got my car as well, probably 2-3 months ago. I've noticed the same thing, and so have a couple friends that frequently ride in the car, and it's only when you first drive it, im going to try and change the MTF in the next week, hopefully it helps.

Its a short shifter with a direct linkage, so its going to feel very direct. The one thing I'll note is I see lots of S2000 owners that shift too fast or harsh for the car. Synchros only work so fast, and you can't beat them into gear unless you're perfectly rev matching, something I've seen very few people do.

its a great transmission. It wasn't designed to be power shifted.

normal but unsettling, use honda MTF and change it a lil more frequently than the owners manual suggest. Enjoy the ride

Thank you all for your input...I feel better knowing it's something most of us experience...I will definitely try MTF. Thanks!
