Default shifting questions

Hi, I just got my s2k today and i had a few questions about shifting. When u guys are trying to save gas, what rpm do you usually shift at? When I'm shifting gears for just normal driving, it seems that I don't have to press the clutch all the way down, I can barelly step on it and the shifter shifts fine, is this right? Or am I damaging something? I'm still trying to get the car to shift completely smooth, I can only do it sometimes, any tips on how I get it? Thanks.

yes our clutch does not necessarily need to be pushed down all the way to shift. in fact, if you rev match on the S2k it can actually be shifted under normal acceleration with no clutch at all. but i wouldn't do that. lol.

when you shift and let out the clutch, don't just pop it out, keep the transition smooth and that will help you smooth your shifts.

i shift at about 4000rpm or so.

s2000 is my first manual and it took me about 2 weeks before I could be reasonably smooth driving it-- in this regard it was much harder than the VW Golf I learned on. For me, I had to learn to pause a little to let the revs drop and control how mooth I let out the clutch.

That said, the crispness and precision of the gearchange, clutch/brake/gas make things like rev matching and heel-toeing much easier.

I press the clutch all the way in. It can be done otherwise, but it's not worth the worry for me.
