This condition is normal. It is just the vinyl that is compressed. It is not worn. I just looked at an 04 in which the shrink wrap was just removed and these marks are the same as my 02. The 303 makes it more apparent.

It also builds up gunk, I use 303 as well but every other time I use a mild dish soap and a shop rag in a circular motion on the shiny spots and they pretty much are gone, then put the protectant back on, usually lasts me about two months depending on weather.

I posted about this same issue about a month ago. It's normal for the S2000. It's because of the fine material that the top is made out of. You'll notice it on higher end automobiles... NOT!

I use dawn cause its not harsh, but most liquid soaps arent too harsh, and theyre designed to cut grease so its perfect. put some in a bucket with water kinda like washing your car but not so diluted, rub in a circular motion like waxing then rinse.

Dawn is a very strong detergent - clean the top with the same thing you use to clean the paint. Dawn's alkalinity cuts through wax like a hot knife through butter, and since it rinses onto the paint, can also strip it. Why do you think Sal Zaino recommends Dawn to pre-clean for his polishes?

The good news is that the S2K's top is made of PVC so it is durable and waterproof - the downside is it does not have the classy look of the Jaguar/Mustang SVT tops.
