http://freightquote.com is how I have shipped a Hood and a Mugen SS bumper. They can quote all major freight carriers and orrder you the lowest. From TX to CA the bumper was 160 and the Hood was 95. So reasonable is relative.

Truck freight is your only way to go. Avoid UPS/Fedex/etc.
I own a mattress chain, so we have a lot of headboards/footboards in LARGE boxes that ship from Quebec or Los Angeles to our stores here in Western Canada, and freight can be quite pricy (A king size bed from Wesley Allen in Los Angeles to us here is usually $300~ - the box would be like taking two front bumpers and boxing them togther, one on top of the other)
