Default Shopping today (Pricing advise)

Hello All!

Well todays the day. Going to look at a couple of what seem to be decent s2ks.

I've been drooling for a while but still dont have a good feeling for peoples asking prices.

I'm looking at a 2005 w/ about 25,000 miles, claims to be well kept. asking $23,900

Also a 2007 w/ 49000 miles, asking $22,900

I realize I need to do a good inspection.

Assuming these are as good as they say, are these prices reasonable given the current market?

Since Kelly seems to put them at less than $20,000, are they asking way too much, or is that just what these cars are commanding these days.

I'm willing to pay a fair price for a good car, but who wants to get taken with an emotional purchase.

Thanks for any help.

Steve

You asked for opinions so here is mine:

The 2005 to me is priced way too high even for the low mileage. It is worth in the area of 20k
The 2007 is a little high. It should be around 21k.

Just my 2 cents.

I paid $23,775 out the door for my 09 w/ 28k on the clock in October of last year.

Thanks Sharp SSS and csoxman!

I looked first at the 05, then went off to look at the 07. It was at a dealership, I told the guy I was coming earlier in the week, then I texted him when I was an hour away. When I got there they we just closing the deal to someone else. I hope I dont offend anyone, but I hate salesmen. They propbably told him I was coming to pressure him into buying. Scum!

Anyway, I panicked (I hadn't seen these posts yet) and offered the 05 guy $22K. He, of course, said he'd wait until the two people 'supposedly' coming tomorrow made their offers. Could be he's trying to force my hand. Trying to decide if i should retract the offer, or are people just going crazy cuz it's spring.(almost)

what to do, what to do...

Thanks again,
Steve

P.S. I'll let you know how it works out.

Here's a link to "completed" S2000 sales on eBay in the last 90 days---the green prices are cars that sold and the red are ones that didn't.
This may help you with prices they're going for.

Great link jetboater!

I'd always see ads disappear from Autotrader, etc, and wonder what they actually sold for. The Ebay link is a nice reference.

Thanks,
Steve

If any of the unsold cars on eBay interest you, you could contact the seller to see if that car is still available. Looked like there were several 05-07s with reasonable mileage that didnt sell.

I have noticed that prices have most certainly increased on all S2000s in the last 8 month or so. It is even more apparent for low mileage AP2s. I bought my absolutely perfect 07 w/14,400 miles on it last January for 22,500. I am the third owner. The original buyer was a 65 year old retired guy north of Tampa, the guy I got it from was my age, late 50's, with two boys starting college and needed the cash. I am now up to nearly 19K and if was going to sell it I would not even consider anything under 26K. Lets face it, these cars are irreplaceable at this point and considering that they are pretty quick, good looking convertibles they aren't going to be getting cheaper anytime soon.
