Awesome ride! If you bought the Z4, I'm sure you have the $$ for maintenance and repairs, so who cares! Congrats and enjoy!
Well it's a BMW so expect higher maintenance bills than a honda.
Maybe if you saw the top gear episode comparing the z4, boxster, and s2000 you would chosen differently.
This is always a good read as well. Note the z4 was fourth and the s2000 was #1.

Regardless, congrats on your purchase, I have always like the z4.

Congrats. Z4 is a really nice car. Fast, fun, prestige. The S is better in some areas, the Z in others. If the areas the Z is better are the ones that are important to you, you made the right choice.
some obvious areas where the Z excels are prestige and refinement, and low end torque.
As with any german car, they require more scheduled maintainance than their japanese counterparts would, and that maintainance is typically more expensive. German cars tend to be more complex, so every repair task is more involved. I speak from experience.
I'm sure your Z will be fine, it will just have higher upkeep cost than an S or a Miata. So long as you go into understanding that, you're good.
