I bought a Fiat 124 Spider when my wife was pregnant with kid #2 (a long time ago). We also had a VW Rabbit and a Volvo wagon, so the Fiat was just a toy (considering it was always broken, it's a good thing, too).

If you can afford to have an expensive toy around, you'll love having it. Keep in mind that the passenger seat has no easy way to disable the airbag, so you should not carry very small children in the S.

I had a similar dilemma. I wanted a rag top as a third car. I was between the S2000 and a Mustang GT convertible (back seat). I bought the S2000 and regret it somewhat. This year I put on 2500 miles on S2000. If I had the Mustang, I could have put on 6,000 miles because I could have used the car much more with the ability to cart the kids around. I will still keep the S2000, but I will have to resign myself that I won't get to drive it that often. The result of busy lifestyles. Considering my commuter car is a tuned Lexus, GS400, I could have it worse.

I am also "married with two kids". Certainly a four seater would be more practical. If you have a reliable 4 seater already, go for the S. Heck, you live only once. Personally, we have a brand new $37k 4Runner in the garage, thats enough "practicality" for me. The S (on order) is my car for FUN.
Good luck in your decision.

Sometimes being practical isn't being practical. 31 here with two small girls, 2 and .6 of age. Have an R6 that I never ride and am lazy to sell and just purchased a new silverstone red/black S in August. Bro, you only go around the block once...

Hey, compared to a motorcycle, it's more practical...

Just remember, if your children still need a child seat, there is no airbag shut-off switch. That's about the only problem. You may be able to get an aftermarket one, though.

I have one kid who is 3 and another to be delivered within the week. The S2000 is my primary car and has been since I purchased it. My wife has an MDX. I really cannot think of a situation where it caused any issues. In fact, I am now selling my S2000 and buying a C6 convertible. One 2-seater to another. I have zero regrets.

Two kids ... they fight for who gets to ride the S ... wife drives RX300, it's worked out well for family trips. This thread's probably beaten to death but I add my vote to those dads who say, "GET IT!!"

p.s. no third car (or motorcycle since I sold my SV650).

Okay, one wife, one daughter (10 mos.) and another one due in April. Bought my S in june of this year with 10 miles on it. It now has 1731 mi.. Buy it. Enjoy it. Blow off some stress and steam in it. Thats what I do. Very therapeutic. Have wanted one since they came out. Sometimes you just gotta say what the and just do it. You wont be sorry.
