With a wife & 2 kids, I'd say get the S only if it's going to be a third family car. There will just be too many instances when someone goes out, takes the Pathfinder, and then the other person needs to go out to get something big and/or cart the kids around.

Just my $0.02.

Question

I'm married with two kids. I bought my S right after my second child was born. The S will be the only vaction you'll ever get for the next 5+ years

I would suggest that you consider the S somewhat like your motorcycle...limited utility. We were in the same situation several years ago when we leased a Mitsubishi 3000GT. Fun car (for its time) but not practical. So, we got rid out of the lease and purchased a '96 Maxima. Then, last October, finally went back and got our "weekend" car -- the S2000. And, haven't regretted owning it for one moment.
That's my 2

I have two boys (8&10), they think my S2000 is the coolest car on the road. My wife has a jeep, so the family car is hers. My kids beg me for a ride, get one, you won't regret.
