Folks I was attempting to say what I have seen so many other owners say with one word, NO, with a little humor. When people hafta ask if the should buy one then that is an indication that they aren't gonna be happy with an S2000. Kinda a take on the old if you hafta ask how much you can't afford it.....if you gotta ask shouldja then you shouldn't. The S2000 is a single purpose car that ain't gonna make you happy unless you want it bad enough to overlook a few quirks. I am sorry if I came off in a combative manner. I did this at 4:30 or so in the morning while at work and maybe it wasn't quite as "cute" or funny as I thought at the time.
Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa.

flipman, don't take this in a bad way (unless you want to), but you just gotta see the humour and peculiarity of your posted questions.
It's one thing for someone to come on to this forum to ask if they should buy an S2000 and be influenced by others (total strangers) in such a big dollar decision ........................
But, You've already owned an S2000 once before PLUS you know your own life's circumstances far better than anyone else here and you STILL ask if you should buy one?

I think I need to start a new thread (to compliment the first one I started "Should I buy an S2000):
Should I buy an S2000 AGAIN ?

To some degree I agree with Ravskau's sarcasm.

Flipman, you work hard for your money, and want to be in control of it. If YOU want the S2K, get it. If not, don't. You don't rely on us to put money in your pocket (wait, you work for the gov?).. anyway, why would you rely on us to pick the car for your driveway? Go drive all the roadsters, weigh the results against your wish list, and make a decision.

BTW: I have an '00 Civic and '02 S2K. Works very well for almost all situations.

Buy a beater now - and not a new one. How about a used pickup? A utility vehicle can come in handy, they are more suited for rough roads, minor scrapes and dings are no big deal, no driving urge to keep them spotless, and chances are nobody will be interested in stealing it.

The S as a daily driver in congested conditions on bad roads? Not for me! The S is a work of art IMO. She's more than just transportation - she's an experience. If you're in a financial position to own multiple vehicles by all means save the S for special excursions in the right kind of conditions on the right kind of roads.

In my OPINION, you shouldn't buy an S2000.

Search for posts by my name on my indecision on the S2000. I drewled over it for months on end, then ended up getting a WRX. Well, look what I have now. I think I subconsiously killed the WRX...

Always go with your first thought. I had a 98 Prelude, then sat in the S2000 and wanted it right away. I was so sad when I traded in my Prelude for the WRX. Now I am oh so happy. IMHO, get the S2000 and use it as a daily driver.

It's great to own an S2K in DC Metro (or slightly outside DC). Great back roads/twisties that you can take it to and enjoy, but you already knew that.

Definitely get a beater and the S. Besides, isn't this the perfect time to buy one at a great deal.

Main reason why I finally bought the S was because not only did I wanted one for... since it first came out, but also because the reverse in my p/u gave out.
My beater: 94 nissan p/u ext cab w/o reverse. I drive it during rain, snow, etc. Always moving forward.

BTW: Great weather we're having today. For you flipman, I'm going for a drive w/ the top down in my S........

I love the hard ride and the limited luxury amenitites. The car makes me feel alive, its pure driving passion.

I drive a beater to work every day. I am COMPLETELY satisfied having a beater and the S2000. I used to have a 3.2TL and I was never happy until I bought an old MR2, then I hardly ever drove the TL. I LOVE small cars!
