Some engines have a bad oil burning problem. I've driven the Vette quite a few times, nice cars, but the S is more fun IMHO, especially around town. He knows what he has....and wants to trade. Hummm

 

"Only" 385 hp, hehe. Anyway, I think the issue with '01s was burning oil, not leaking it. The Z06 is a great car but to be honest I'd really have to drive one hard before I would make that decision. I drove a new M3 and expected to be blown away considering all the hype but truth be told I like my S2000 better. The power is nice but you never forget the M3 started life as a sedan. That and the shifter sucks!

Side note: The only two Corvette owners in my neighborhood both traded in their previous Vettes for matching black Z06s this spring. Bastards!

If you get the z06, you will immediately grow a mullet and lose 60pts on your IQ. There is nothing you can do about it. The hair will grow back over night if you try to cut it.....like the little girl from interview with a vampire.

You should drive it for yourself and figure out what you want. The two cars are very different from each other. Maybe a little off topic, but I was at the dealer last week test driving an 03' Z06. The manager told me that he would give me 0% interest for 5 years. That's crazy. If you can afford it, maybe get a new one. BTW, it was so fast.
