Should I trade the S for a ZO6?

The only thing I would be concerned about is the oil burning problem. I think GM does a rering but I cant remember if its under warranty.

It all depends on what you want from a car. My S2000 got more attention and looks than my Z06 does (maybe because it was yellow). But performance wise, the S2000 is not in the same league as a Z06.

Drive his Z06. If you are happy with the interior and how it feels, do the trade. Also, make sure the get the dealer to do a thorough inspection on the car.

As far as my personal experience with both cars: I had similar problems. The S2000 ground going into 2nd gear and the Z06 ground going into 4th gear. I'm starting to think it has something to do with the abuse I put my cars through.

BTW, if you decide to get the Z06, better start saving for mods.

I was trying to keep out of this, but I've failed.

Z06 may handle and accelerate like nothing else, but it will also give you mechanical headaches like nothing else. (See the previous post link http://www.geocities.com/jla_enterprises/Z...6Pictures1.html )
and look at that guy's repair history). After 50 years, GM should be able to do better, but they still don't, or more likely, can't.

And as far as the discussion xviper was having with Frankyrocco.... How can someone assert that a C5 'Vette won't have a similar repair history to a C4?? (If that indeed was the dispute). If you want to know how reliable a car is, you look at its history, nothing speaks louder.

Are both cars paid off? I would not even think about swapping payment for that POS.

If both are paid off, sit in a lotus position for 4 hours, minimum, before proceeding to the next step.

Thanks people! I had to see what you guys thought first. I am staying with my S. I drove The Z06. It was Ok. It had all the power down low were my car doesn't but not much up top next to the S. I don't like the big car feel at high speed. Plus When you pull up next to some guy in a Z06 you don't even want to race cause you know the out come. Thats why I am keeping the S it makes it more enjoyable to see the faces of the V8 guys when you are in a 4cyl. Thanks again! RAT

This is such a flawed, wrong, and completely generalizing statement. Your link clearly applies to the 01 Z06's which GM has admitted time and time again that there were problems with; specifically the oil consumption and burning issue that has already been addressed in this post. The 02's and 03's were completely redone with the improved rings and have had no problems whatsoever. Perhaps you should consider researching the subject a bit more in the future before making such an uneducated comment. Mechanical headaches my arse.

As far as the post is concerned I would keep the S2000 if the Z06 is a 2001 model. Only the 02's and up are worth having IMO.

Digital James has the idea.....

Swap, sell, buy back a 2003 S and other goodies for bonus.

I am not sure about the rules of the mullet, but as soon as you sign off on the title.....your mullet should subside.

P.S- I love corvettes, but everyone has to admit that there is a stigma [be it a misinformed one].

Wait a minute, I should get a Vette! I'm 60, I'm overweight, but I don't have Gold Jewelry (I thought that was a Ferrari Trait!!!! --- have you been to a Ferrari Club meet at Lime Rock???)
