Default Side marker lights

This has probably been addressed but in doing a search I was unable to find what I was looking for.

I recently purchased a Spa Yellow S2000 for my wife as a christmas gift. This was a tough buy for me bacause I've been a hardcore American Iron guy since I learned to drive. I've been very impressed with this car from the start except for the idiotic side marker lights. I even remarked to my wife and the salesman "The only ugly thing about this car is the side marker lights".

I don't mind that the car has the side marker lights but can't for the life of me figure out why they wouldn't make them flush with the body work. It's as if they forgot that they we're required equipment and added them at the last minute.

My question is do they make a quality aftermarket light that is flush with the body? IF they are obtainable, where can I get a set.

Any help in this matter would be appreciated.

I agree 100%...Honda should have taken a lesson from VW on side markers IMO.I don't think they make any flush lights, but you can replace the yellow plastic w/clear which gives the car a cleaner look.Check out Rick's web site(forum sponser)he sells clear side markers.

You can customize the VW lights to fit the S but it is a lot of work and cutting is involved but in the end it does look a lot nicer. Keep in mind the VW lights get ripped off constantly. My friend has two extra sets in her glove compartment because she works at a mall and they get stolen all the time. When she bought them they had to be ordered because they can't keep enough in stock. But any way if that is the look you are going for just buy a pair and it is pretty self expanitory if you are the slightest bit handy. Good luck and Happy New Year!

Modifry, a member of this board, has a nice writeup on installing the VW sidemarkers at his site. It can be found here:

I don't care for the amber color OR the fact that they stick out so far.

I ordered a set of the JDM side markers from Rick's - to at least lose the amber color. I was dissappointed in two things: no amber bulbs were included and the left and right lights were not marked (I got 2 different part number bags). I had to run out and snag some amber bulbs - and re-mount one of the markers after I used the "wrong one" (they fit either side, but if you use the wrong one the connector comes off the marker straight up).

All in all it was worth the money for the upgrade - just to lose the amber bumps, but I still have clear bumps.

Since so many folks complain about this one thing - I am surprised than one of the sponsors/S2000 goody suppliers has not addressed it. Either by having a marker custom made - or by someone commercially adapting the Honda marker (fitting a low profile cover with LEDs) or the VW one, etc. Seems like someone could make some money. I am not likely to track down the VW lights, cut and grind on them, and make a wiring harness for them. I would be very likely to pay a reasonable price if someone else did

I got a nice e-mail from Rick Hesel (of Rick's Signature Accessories). It seems the JDM clear side markers are supposed to ship with amber bulbs but mine did not - he is sending me a set of amber bulbs.

Nice service!

So now if someone could just make the clear side markers not so bumpy we would be all set !

I think they look better (off) with the clear bulb, when in use I wanted them to be amber. I think someone here posted an LED set-up they used. The LED array appears colorless until lit, then shines amber (if I remember right).

For sure I would like something that fit without any work and was not so lumpy as the OEM markers.

It was a lot easier on my BMW, as they make clear lens lights of other parts of the world a many of the discount BMW parts places carry them. OEM quality and fit is nice. The stock amber on my silver car looked really bad - much nicer clear (with amber bulbs).
