I have the factory side strakes. They are a slightly darker red and not as bright as the paint on the car. Anyone else had this problem of color match?

The front and rear spoilers' colors match the car well.

Big Al,

The first two red S2000's I saw were at the dealer near you. Both of them were a darker red than any other red S2K I've seen.

Interesting...

The side strakes on my Silverstone Metallic
are lighter than the rest of the car; while
the trunk and chin spoilers look fine. I
wonder what Honda's done differently in the
painting process on these.

Side Strakes? I have side strakes. Cheap. One started to come off...pushed it back on. May get rid of the stupid things. But, my baby had to get drilled to put them on, so going back (removing) requires filling the holes. I think I know a bodyshop that can handle it, but it may not be cheap. I do like the look of them, but they are a bit of an irritant, since they are not Soichiro Honda quality. Are we having fun yet? I am. Stopped raining in Mississippi, and cool air develops mucho horspower. I like it!

Mental note to self, "Never purchase side strakes."

My side strakes have been fixed once and then replaced under warranty because they kept popping off. I presented my dealer with the alternative of removing them and filling the hole. They can get approval from Honda to repair or replace them, but they doubted that Honda would pay for the bodywork required if they were removed. So I'm stuck with them now. If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't get them.

As far as removing them, there's also more to it than just filling the hole. There is a black trim strip that runs around the edge of the wheel well. A portion of this is cut and removed for the side strake. Removing the side strake will leave a body-colored patch where the side strake attached to the wheel well, so this strip would have to be replaced as well.
