Default Sloshing Sound After Rain

After my car has been parked in the rain for a couple of hours, I notice that there is a sloshing sound of water when I first begin driving again. This sound seems to be coming from the passenger side. However, the sloshing noise goes away after driving for ~15 minutes. Additionally, there does not seem to be any stale odor coming from the car, which would be indicative of pooled water. Is this at all normal? Does the fact that the noise go away indicate that the drainage system of the car (if one does exist) is clogged/slowed?

Thank you for the help!

Check under the tool kit in the trunk. That is where water mostly collects and that was my problem. I just simply punched out one of the plastic plugs in the bottom of the trunk and now if it does fill with water then at least it will drain right away.

The drainage channels for the roof are likely clogged, and not draining water as fast as they should. This is will result in the 'sloshing' noise you can hear when on the move.

The roof drains into a rain rail which runs to either side of the vehicle. If you lower the roof, and look inside the roof assembly near the roof brushes you will see a black plastic tank. Water collects in this until is has drained out via the drain holes in the sills and the wheel arch. It is a pretty common problem, and rectified by cleaning the drain holes out. Have a search around the forum for the related guides.

If none of the above works, grab the doors and swing them back and forth to see if you hear sloshing and they are holding water if the drain holes are plugged. I had a car that did that once, the drain holes at the base of the doors needed clearing. This along with the trunk and roof drains are the most likely sources.

this is most likely what's causing the sloshing sound

If your hearing it from one side or the other its definitely the rain gutters. You may have water in the trunk as well but its not going to go away after 15 minutes of driving. I had to clean those gutters out when I bought the car, find someone with small hands to pull out any crap in there. Then if its still clogged I went out and bought some 8 gauge wire and greased it up and shoved it through the drain holes til it came out the bottom. Pushed everything out and havent had a problem since.
