Default slowing down for a turn and then what?

i want to clear this up before trying to atempt this.

everytime i come to a turn either onto another street whatever, i seem to slow down too much cause of the clutch.
i am under the impression that you cannot let off the clutch when downshifting then plan on taking the turn without any clutch or gas.

i really cant take anyt turns fast cause, i am usually on the clutch and then downshifting then when i am done with the turn i gas it up while i let off the clutch slowly.

ok my question lets take for example your going 50mph and need to take a turn onto a street. Could you brake clutch downshift then let off the clutch right after the downshift is done then make the turn without any gas? i have ran into other situations where if you dont let off the clutch slowly the car will doing a bouncing motion.

how do you guys take a turn so fast? im always opn the clutch till i am ready to gas her back up again.

I second the notion for a driving class.

You should have done your braking and be in the correct gear well before you get to the corner (i.e. before you have to turn the wheel). If you are taking turns without any gas then you have left too little time between downshifting and entering the turn. I'll even go far as to say that a good driver should rarely need to use the brakes (with the obvious exception of traffic lights, obstacles in front of you or being on a track).

i guess im trying to say in any situation can you let go of the clutch without gasing if you have speed? cause i noticed myself riding on the clutch in many situations because i am afraid to release the clutch without gas , even when i have speed..........

yes driving courses would be a good idea, but i have so much on the "To do list/Wish list" for my car, i find it hard to spend money for driving courses when i can get a shift knob or something.....

im usually done with all the braking or speeding up before the turn... i had that problem in my integra also.. but i got over it in a day or two... just takes time to get used to it.. but i feel more comfortable being in the gear i want to take the turn in already.. if that makes sense =P

If I understand you correctly regarding the bouncing motion you're either talking about changing into too high a gear for the speed making the engine labour as if its about to stall or your travelling quickly and changing down to say 2nd causing the car to lurch as weight is transferrred forwards as the revs shoot skywards and the engine brakes the car.

If its the former then you know to select a lower gear next time, if its the latter then either slow down more for the gear you select or tap the accelerator to match the revs before you release the clutch to prevent the lurch and keep everything smooth.

As Muz says, get all the braking and gear changing done before you have to turn
Try not to ride the clutch you'll shorten its life
