i got smoked tonight by a civic hatch.. and civic si.. both heavily modded.. both pulled about the same.. 1 car or so by the end of 1st..(43mph).. i started gaining mid-2nd gear.. but by then the runs about over.. they both said they were 'all motor' ..no turbos, supercharger, or NOS.. yet wouldn't show me the engines.

the kid w/ the SI said he just had Exhuast and Headers.. could that alone really make them that fast?

Insomniak,

If they were really all motor, then I would have to say he was the better driver (this is your first stick....right?).

I have a Del Sol VTEC and the S and there is no way in hell that the Del SOL can whip up on the S. Not in its current form.

A good example: Good friend of mine has an SVT Contour and when we race my Del SOL is about half a car back to a full car length back everytime. Now with the S I'm the one having to wait for him to catch up.

Now it may really be an all motor car. The guy may have had some very aggressive cams with CTR or ITR parts.

If you go to http://www.darksol.com and go to the showcase tab you will find the baddest all motor Del Sol around. His best 1/4 mile time with slicks is 12.916 @ 104.23mph. That is amazing and all motor.

He lied. There's no way you can beat the S with just only I/E/H on an Si. No matter how bad your launch was, you'll get him by 3rd gear if you shift at 8K+ rpm. In order to hang with the S using an All-Motor Si, you'll need more than I/E/H. At least port/polish, bore trottle, vales adjustment and adjustable cam-sprockets. He'll gain around 30hps if he got all those and tuned right.
So i'm thinking he's on the gas or FI, or he might did some MAJOR weight reduction to the car.

well there are some other factors that may be making my car slow.. i had one misshift on the highway.. doing about 55 trying to hit 3rd.. hit 1st.. no check engine light.. but it seems to be idling ruffer.. and clicking at times.. (bent valves possibly?) gonna get it checked out at the first oil change tommorrow..

yeah its my first stick shift car.. but out of the 3 runs i had 1 perfect one (shift-wise) at 8-8.5k rpm each shift and he still pulled.

If he was all motor, then he had A LOT of work done to it. There is once civic hatchback around San Diego who does high 12's all motor. He has GS-R engine plus it's built.

I dunno about "easy". I've seen some Hybrid CRXs with the B18 in it and they're only getting low 15's high 14's.

Then again, I saw a CRX with a B16, headers, intake, (no NOS) do high elevens at the track. The guy was a bit of a snot though and wouldn't talk about the engine, so I'm sure there was a lot more in there.
