I think that there are probably better reasons not to toss the butt out than that it may hit a car.

Just my $0.03 (Canadian funds)

Ron

When I do toss butts, I am either going slowly or stopped or roll down the window all the way and hang my arm out and down and let it go as low as possible so as not to hit other cars and bikes but more importantly so that it doesn't bounce around and possibly jump off the road and start a brush fire. It also makes sure that it doesn't land back inside the car.

I tried to toss a but over my right shoulder at about 85mph and the sucker blew back into the cabin! The babe riding with me grabbed it right away and tossed it...wow she was car cool....but I learned to toss the buts the way cthree says

Why do you feel it's OK to throw butts out the window? I know other considerate smokers who don't normally litter that do the same thing. I never had the nerve to ask them this question.

I do like CT say as well. Why do i throw my buts out the window? I don't want them junking up my car. all ashes and butts go out side of the car. ( or on the dashboard) or if its raining I use my Tim Hortons cup stuffed between my seat and the centre console. And Ron its a tough battle to fight against us hardcore smokers. While I do agree with you I still do it so go figure

Yeah, much better that they junk up the streets.

I too am amazed at generally sane people who will flick a but. I watched someone the other day drop a but in the street two metres before they dropped their hamburger wrapper in the bin.

I live about about 1Km from Balmoral beach in Sydney Harbour. All the storm drains run down the hill and straight out into the water complete with all the refuge from the gutters. Considering their size, the percentage of mass of washed up garbage that constitute cigarette buts just amazes me.

I respect others right to smoke, why can't you respect everyones right to a clean environment?

I'm not a moderator but I think we just drifted off topic here and got into an environmental discussion that would fit right in on the other board.
