Smile Smoking S2000

Well today i took my car to get my first oil change. i took my car down around 3 and finished around 4:30....long line. well i went to my sisters Bar-BQ after i got my oil change. I left my sisters to head home around 9, and on my way home my car started smoking! EVERYWHERE! Smoke was come from under my hood, under my car, and from behind my exhaust. I pulled over wondering what happend, and noticed that there was a long oil trail following my car. i quickly turned off my car, and let it cool down. i put my car in neutral and pushed it forward a bit, and noticed a huge puddle of OIL all over the floor. i checked my oil rod, but when i pulled out the rod, there was no oil what so ever. i checked under my car, and noticed that the mechanic who worked on my car never bolted my oil pan back on properly.so all my oil leaked out. so what i had to do is call a tow truck to tow my car back home. it took 2 hours and 30 minutes to get my car on the bed of the tow truck, due to the fact i have a spoon bumper, and it was hard to get my car on the bed without scratching.

On monday i plan on calling my Honda Dealership to tell them what happend. They better pay for the towing, fix anything that was damaged, and ensure me a free lifetime of oil changes for now on. if not i will have my lawyer come in and settle this problem.

what do you guys think i should do?

You paid for a service that was negligently done. The law will be on your side.

My Honda Dealership did my oil change. Three week's later I pop the hood to clean up a bit, and I find an unopened quart of oil jammed in there, ready to burst. Checked the oil level, LOW. I called the Dealership and told them what they can do with that quart of oil, then I immediatly called Honda of America. I am getting them back, one way or another.

My vote: Call Honda of America and leave a complaint.

ehh thats why you gota do what i do. We have a wonderful car, dont trust anyone with it. Usually when you take it honda they will make you go to the waiting room. But they know me and how i love my car so i stood and watch them do it until they were done. Thats how you make sure everything was done right. =)

My first oil change is coming up and I'm getting uber scared with all these posts about the dealer screwing up. I would love to learn to do it myself, but I have no where to do it.

That is THE number one important car ownership fact. Find a good mechanic be it a dealership or private garage. I've been fortunate enough to be going to the same garage for three generations. I don't know if it's the cheapest but I do know it will be done right and with honesty.

Oil pan
Since when do you need to remove the oil pan to do an oil change?
Or did they wipe down the oil pan to remove wear-in goo?
Is that common practice on new cars?
(did they also steam clean the engine internally? )

Succes!

besides ensuring the car is ok and making the place you took it to originally pay for any damage i would try hard to make an effort to change your oil yourself...it's not really cheaper but you will have the piece of mind that it was done right.
