Engine could be toast. Exactly why I do my own oil changes. Why trust your $35,000 investment to somebody not properly trained to even do an oil change.

How about right where you park it?
Unless you live in a complex where they do not permit working on cars, just do it right where you park it.
If that's not an option - ask other owners in the area where they feel comfortable taking their cars.

my complex does not permit working on cars, but I do it at a time when the staff isn't there and it only takes a half hour.

In my case I don't think they'd care. Those clauses are there so people don't leave their cars disassembled for days causing an eyesore.

Could it also possibly be a double gasket on the oil filter?

There shouldn't be oil leaking out of the oil pan, are you sure it was comming out of it?

And why would you want that from a dealer that has proven that they can't perform one properly?

Just take it to the dealership, 99% of oil changes are done correctly. You have to remember that people dont post "I got an oil change at 10K, they changed the filter and oil. Everything is okay, Im looking foward to 15K"

Just do a quick inspection before you leave.

Its an easy task to change the oil/filter, I take it in because my mechanic charges 4.50 for Mobile 1 and 4.50 for a Honda filter. They've taken care of my cars for over 10 years from an 82 Olds to 00 NSX.

Good point. I can just see it. A free oil change every 5000 miles that results in the oil falling out, so having to go someplace else to make it right. May as well go that other place first.
