Default Smooth Windshield Tape Removal, Except for...

Today I finally woke up with enough courage to remove the windshield tape from our '00 Grand Prix White. The removal of the tape went very smoothly and took less than 5 minutes. I thought to myself, this is going WAY too smoothly. There was a continuous layer of adhesive remaining, so I wasn't sure of the paint condition yet. I then used a liberal amount of Stoner's Xenit and slowly began to remove the adhesive. During the removal, I noticed that some of my windshield's weather stripping began to pucker. It seems like the Xenit found its way under the weather stripping and partially dissolved some of the adhesive that keeps it in place. Here is a pic:

The good news is that the paint underneath looks great, but the bad news is that I can't seem to get the weather stripping to adhere. Any suggestions?!

Tape tends to get a more permanant adhesion over time. You are way braver than me to take the tape off a 2000 model. I think this is one of those things you have to make your mind up on quickly. You should decide to either take it off or leave it on within a month or so of original purchase.

After the Xenit dried, I was able to fix the weather stripping and all is well.

I was more than a little concerned about removing it for exactly that reason (that it is more than 2 years old now!) However, the removal was very easy, and I just applied 2 coats of Z5 and 1 coat of Z2 and it looks pretty sweet (if I say so myself!)

I primarily removed it because I am finally going to go with a hardtop for this winter.
