straight up ignore them. that's what i do
You could also look over and make eye contact, and maybe even flash a smile. That way when they peel away with their loud fartcans they'll know you were fully aware of their intentions - only to be ignored cause they're unworthy of your attention.
haha i think about doing that too, maybe add a lil head nod

Happens to me all the time here in north chicagoland. I usually ignore them to let them know they are not worth the time and gas lol. When big bad domestic V8's do it, I like to make them think twice about little hondas lol.

I have definitely noticed that people are a lot more likely to speed up when I am trying to pass them

Tell them when and where the next autocross is
This is exactly what I was thinking! Or something along the lines of seeing them at the nearest track.

I highly discourage "teaching them a lesson". As car enthusiasts, especially Japanese import enthusiasts, we already have a bad reputation, despite most of us being perfectly responsible adults. It just comes with the territory I guess. I pay enough for insurance on this thing. I don't want to pay even more because of the actions of others who drive this car. This is a big reason I got out of the Subaru seen. Too man kids think its cool to try to be Ken Block. My insurance increased twice in 1 year, despite no action on my part, due to "liability increases on the WRX".

Just ignore them, knowing that they are the immature kids, and jealous of your FR, perfectly engineered car

Negative attention is honestly the only part of this car I don't like and my car is bone stock.

Get used to it.

I made a thread about it a few weeks ago.

The older I get though, the less I even care if people want to instigate. I just pay no attention.

My honest feeling is that people are clueless. If they had any idea how confidence inspiring this car is compared to what they are driving they probably wouldn't bother.

I've had my car for 5 years and I've yet to have anyone try to race me or have some punks rev up at me. I would simply disregard any unwanted attention. It's not worth it to let them get you worked up.
