It's funny this topic comes up. I owned a super charged mustang with around 400hp before this car that was mean looking as hell and the sound of the exhaust with the cams would turn any head. But honestly, I turn 10x as manay heads in this car and draw twice the negative attention at red lights and such! It's ironic lol.

When I bought my S2000 in 2000, it started right away....

Driving from the dealer, two Mustangs pulled up and rev'd their engines and took off....

I couldn't do anything, as I didn't have 600 miles on the car yet... so no vtec!

I just ignore the kids who want to race.... not worth the time, effort or anything else to go wrong....

haha exactly! I guess maybe its just the generation of drivers grew up wishing they had the car or something in that realm. I get messed with constantly and its not like the S2000 is a rocket ship. I mean it has no trouble with riced out civics but its not really my first choice for a red light challenge.

I tracked my previous car a Mini Cooper S and I had a lot of fun with it. But, it was a lot more forgiving than the S2000. I am debating whether or not I am going to track this car or wait until I get a little more familiar with it.

I had a dude on a GSXR750 trying to get me to race him one day. I was so confused... I guess he thought that since I wound the car out to 9k in 1st gear leaving the last intersection, I wanted to race? The fact that once I hit 2nd gear I started driving like an old man must've meant nothing.

I live in CNY so the S2000 is pretty rare and I've probably seen 2 in the past 5 years.
Stop by here to see what is going on in Upstate NY:

Did happened to me a long time ago. I had a CRX Si at that time. The teen beside me was revving his poor civic like he wanted to blow a gasket.. I had a quick eye contact with him and gently revved my engine once... My GF was looking at me like I was some sort of nut but I just said to her '' Watch this, It's gonna be funny''. The light turned green and the freak started to burn his tires passing wayyyyy ahead of me because I started normally... 500 feet later, I arrived at the other red light. I just rolled down my window and said '' I don't know if you noticed but there's pedestrians on the race track''

The guy was excusing himself saying he never did that before and was his first time... I had a good laugh!!!

Many years later, I owned a Campagna T-Rex for 7 years and almost every ride I did, those same Civic owner's did wanted to race me. Not needing to prove anything, knowing a T-Rex can do 0-60 mph in 4 sec, I just nodded my helmet and ignored them. I intend to do the same with my newly acquired S2007 if it happens again.

Tracking's an excellent way to get familiar with it. As for the unwanted attention, you just have to learn to ignore/deal with it. The go faster pedal monkeys obviously don't spend any time on the track.
