Except for a few idiots driving pickup trucks, I really can't remember any negative attention in the last three years of ownership.

yesterday some people in a mercedes started tailgating me and were passing me up and giving me hard and funny looks. I was actually talking on the phone (built in blue tooth on the receiever of course) and acted like I didn't even notice. I almost got the vibe that they were jealous or something. This was the first time something like that happend to me before and I know it was because of the car.

I highly discourage "teaching them a lesson". As car enthusiasts, especially Japanese import enthusiasts, we already have a bad reputation, despite most of us being perfectly responsible adults. It just comes with the territory I guess. I pay enough for insurance on this thing. I don't want to pay even more because of the actions of others who drive this car. This is a big reason I got out of the Subaru seen. Too man kids think its cool to try to be Ken Block. My insurance increased twice in 1 year, despite no action on my part, due to "liability increases on the WRX".

Just ignore them, knowing that they are the immature kids, and jealous of your FR, perfectly engineered car
Have you tried shopping around?
Absolutely. It was almost like some companies didn't even want to insure a WRX, so they just jacked the rates to beyond ridiculous. I did eventually switch, to State Farm, and they have been great.

But that isn't the point. Insurance companies decide their rates based on many things, and the number of tickets and claims on a specific vehicle is a large part of that equation. Now that AP1's are affordable to a wider (younger, less mature) group of people, expect to see insurance rates rise because of the increase in claims from kids crashing them. I don't agree with it, but that is how it is. All you can do is be responsible, and discourage irresponsible behavior from other S2000 drivers.

It can be strange. I have my DD under State Farm but it was cheaper for me to put my S2000 under GEICO.

I haven't tried GEICO yet with the S2000. I switched to State farm when I still had the WRX, and just kept it with the S2000. I'm pretty happy with my rate. I might shop around at some point.

I ignore it unless I know the person and we can laugh about it at work, or the next time I see them.

PS your rates will vary based on the mileage you tell them you put on the car. I told my insurance 3k every 6 months and I pay $480

They never even asked what my initial mileage was. I probably won't pass 4k anyways but just saying....

Being a track car you can only imagine the kind of furballs that like to roll up behind me. I just pull to the right and let them pass. If they want to drive 60mph behind me on the highway and sniff my catless exhaust that's just fine with me but I'm not taking the bait.
