doesnt happen too much near me.

though, recently I had 4 teens in a white turbo beetle (new body style) rev and honk several times, then speed off in a congested 4 lane shopping mall highway. just had to laugh

I am debating whether or not I am going to track this car or wait until I get a little more familiar with it.
Tracking's an excellent way to get familiar with it. As for the unwanted attention, you just have to learn to ignore/deal with it. The go faster pedal monkeys obviously don't spend any time on the track.
I will try to take it out to a few SCCA events this year, I had a blast with the MINI but this car seems like its home is on the track.

I've had it happen a few times of month. I mostly just ignore them.

I find it interesting that this happens far more when I drive my DD. I'm pretty sure most of those cars couldn't handle the S2k, I'm very sure they couldn't handle an M. It seems the more pathetic the platform, the more likely the driver is to overestimate their mods.

Yup. Same here.
I know this sounds crazy but, just two months ago a guy in a newish Land Rover actually tried run me off the road. Flashy cars attract all types.

Just very quickly flash something that might look vaguely like a police badge from a huge distance.
Works a treat.....

As long as it doesn't actually say police on the badge, just has the general shape and appearance, you should be pretty safe.

I almost got the vibe that they were jealous or something.

I live in ricer city so it happens every now and then. A wise man once don't street race civics because if you win, whooptie do you just beat a Civic. If you lose, then damn, you just lost to a civic.

Lose/lose situation IMO.

this happens with any half decent sports car. just give them a smirk and dissappointed face, making them feel like their unworthy of your speed
