Default So whats the hype about testpipes?

So today my T1R was installed, I wanted to do it but my dad got impatient for me to get home and decided he was gonna do it himself.... w/e running w/ invidia exhaust and mechanical sensor, I fired her up a litle bit ago when i got home, and to my supprise, no real difference in sound, if any? What gives, I gave her a few revs and still nothing much different, its 11:30 p.m. so I dont wanna annoy the outta the neighbors and I'm blocked in by my dads 2 trucks so I cant go drive til the morning, but is it infact any louder?

I think with the Invidia and a Test pipe I don't think you could tell. The invidia is so loud already. Post back once you drive it a bit.

The purpose of the test pipe isn't to increase noise. It supposed to increase flow, thereby increasing HP. The noise is usually an unwanted side effect.

I am aware of that, I didnt buy it to increase noise. But with all of the hype about it, i kind of expected it to be louder and was just supprised is all.

The Invidia just can't get any louder--no matter what you do.

If you run a quieter exhaust, you'll surely notice the difference in sound when you replace the Cat with a test pipe.

^ sorry to be off topic but so if my exhaust is louder than the invidia system then I shouldn't expect it to get any louder correct? I'm running a single outlet 5 pds titanium exhaust by revolte and it makes the invidia sound like a stock exhaust.

Nope, that's my old exhaust and I don't think you could make it louder unless you took it off and ran open headers. Gotta love full titanium with no resonator

True, but he did. That bastard went and added a supercharger after i sold it to him and its even louder now. You can totally tell the exhaust is for FI. It sounds sooooooooooooooooo good!
