So what's wrong with Rio Yellow?
s2k dude, this may be difficult to quantify but you find that the color attracts more attention, good or bad? I know that sounds dumb but I bet the s2000 is already a popular target for some jealous little #### with a screwdriver and I don't want a color that just makes it stand out more.
I have a Spa yellow (the lay person probably could not tell the difference, but Rio is a much more rich yellow), and I love the color. I love seeing the yellow hood in front of me and the yellow mirrors are great, really makes you feel like youre in a sporty car. And yes, it turns a lot of heads. Any color is great for the S, I just throught the yellow on mine made it look a bit more aggressive.
Oh and I love the C5R Vette's they use in Le Mans, part of the reason I wanted yellow

hahahahaha. When I was shopping for my S2k, I was set on yellow. My wife convinced me to get silverstone instead of rio. While I still think Rio is beautiful, I'm glad I didn't buy it. Silverstone's a more subtle, mature-ish color in my mind. It's a simple "whatever" color. That's why maybe 70% of the S2000's on the road are Silverstone.
That said, if you want rio, then definitely get rio and have your 3 dealers give you a discount.

In my search for an s2000 over the last week, I had exactly 3 dealers tell me in one way or another that the yellow s2k is less desirable and therefore one could conceivably get a better price. WTF?? Is this pretty much the consensus?
I also think that Honda did a great job with the Rio Yellow and that it looks great, but like many other owners, I didn't buy that color, because it just didn't suit me well. I'm not sure what the exact sales figures are, but I wouldn't be surprised if sales for the Rio are among the lowest of all colors, since most people tend to like buying more "conservative" colors, like silverstone, berlina, and GPW.
So the dealer was not necessarily lying - it could be the case that Rio actually is less desirable by most buyers. But that certainly doesn't mean it's not a beautiful color, and like others said, if you want it, use that to your advantage!

I love the yellow S2000's! Looks great and seems to be exclusive around my town. I have seen roughly 20 S2000 in the valley, and only 2 yellow ones other than my own.
The color I see the most is silver, then white, then blue, followed by red, and finally yellow.

And as far as car salesmen, some of them really don't have a clue. Last salesman I talked to was telling me the reason my S is fast is because of the massive torque it has. I just shook my head in agreement and acted surprised.
The yellow has grown on me over the years as my friend had one - and I will say that it probably gets more looks than any other color. My NFR is completely decked out, and I've driven a silverstone for a week as well, and any time I'd ride in my friend's stock spa s2k we'd get more looks, nods, and compliments in a few hours that I would in an entire month in my red one.
I wouldn't personally own one as I don't personally care to have such a bright colored car (I'd be the same with orange too) but I think both are good looking on the S and the dealer is probably somewhat right in that you wouldn't have to pay a premium for the color. A lot of people will pass up yellow and you might be able to get it for less because that color might sit on the lot longer.

When I went to buy my S2000 I was deciding between Grand Prix White and Rio Yellow Pearl. I looked at both colors up closed and personal and Decided to go with the Grand Prix White. I felt that the Rio Yellow would be too much to be used as a daily driver and it wouldn't really fit me as in how I dress. But I love how the Rio Yellow just glows though it's a nice color..
