Red face Soft Top Frame

Although the picture may not show it (like I see it) the
soft top frame seems to be putting undue stress on the top.
The frame metal has no "bent" or "stress' marks on it.
I would like to reduce the possibility of the frame puncturing
through the top eventually.

Any recommendations (without removing the top from the frame)?
Bending the frame down? Heating up the frame (a little) and then
bending the frame down?

Thanks!

You could put a patch on the inside of the soft top at this location. Any future wear would be on the patch and not on the top. Others have done this over the years with success.

Thanks for the tip. Do most people just glue a black patch in that area?
If so, what type of glue do they use?

To me, that just looks like it's the top strap pushing up a bit. Is it original or a Modifry Strap? When I installed the Modifry Strap, I had to adjust the "wrap" a little to reduce the slight bulge.

Looks like something on top of the frame based on looking at mine a minute ago. Frame bends are all nicely radiused.

It is a modifry strap. I am unsure how wrapping the strap differently
around the rod would put less stress on the soft top.

From the outside it looks like there are several turns of strap on the bar. As I recall there should only be a single layer of fabric on the top of the bar.

Do you have any recommendations as to a patch kit, or material to use? I just noticed a slight tear in my 2007 roof at the rear corner which I've seen is a common problem. I want to patch it so it doesn't bet worse. Thanks

Slight tear is like slightly pregnant.

I used
black GoreTex parka patching black GoreTex parka patching
inside and out on my '06 roof when wear from a rough metal frame finally became a 1' tear in 2015 or '16. Sanded the frame too. Sealed fine and matched well enough outside to not be an eyesore to anyone but me. Finally couldn't stand it and replaced the whole roof in 2019 when another member organized a "group" re-roof day with a professional roof installer. Car looks much better and I feel better.

(Not my photo.)
