Default Soft Top Inner Cover???

Has anyone bought the soft top inner cover that MG Racing sell? How easy or difficult is this to install? would it fit the '02 with the glass rear window? I would be grateful for any comments and/or pix. thanks

I've had one on my car from the beginning. I had it installed, so I can't comment on that, but I lile it very much. I had a few problems with attachment points coming loose, but I was able to fix them myself and have no problems since.

I don't have pictures but will try to post some. It quiets the interior a bit with the top up, the effect is largely cosmetic -- it give the roof a more finished appearance.

I agree with Rick's assessment of the inner liner. I've had some minor issues with velcro coming loose, easily resolved with a little superglue. Many people don't even notice the liner since it looks like it belongs in the car. I've had no issues with lowing the top with it in place.

I installed mine - it's a tedious process, but not difficult if you carefully follow directions. One tip is to make sure that you have the liner lined up properly before you seat the long plastic clips (look like split plastic tubing) on the roof frame tubing. If you install and remove the plastic clips to realign them, it can stretch out the clip and it won't maintain a secure grip the roof frame tubing. The fix for this is to drill some holes through the clip and into the roof tubes and install screws to secure the clip.

Hello Desert Wind,

the inner cover is manufactured by the German company Auco. You can find some pictures and information in English on their web site www.auco.de. The inner cover was one of the first mods that I installed. It needed some fine tuning and like CoralDoc already mentioned attaching the long plastic clips to the roof frame tubings is a bit cumbersome. But once installed it looks great, because the red color matches the interior. I can really recommend it. Why don't you order it directly from the manufacturer Auco ? It will be less expensive because you'll save shipping it twice across the pond

BTW, are there many S2000s in the desert ?

Have fun and let it rev !
Uwe

I found installation instructions for BMW: http://www.mz3.net/articles/092.html

Please tell me if there are any differences between these instructions and what it takes to install on the S.

Thanks

Paul
