Soft Top Life Expectancy
When I replaced mine, I had a guy that had done many. we finished in 4-5 hours. I helped him, and next time (if there is one) I'm going to do it myself. If you use common sense and wrench on your own at all, it's not that hard.
Removing/re-installing practically all the interior is the most time consuming part.
You will need rivet/rivet gun, contact cement, and normal tools.

I went with the Robbins Stayfast Cloth top and couldn't be happier
OEM is the vinyl so you would go with the Twillweave.
Good luck.
As I mentioned earlier, I've decided to give the Robbins cloth a shot -- the price of the OEM vinyl is about $250 more then the Robbins cloth (from Tops Online).
There's a good writeup on here about how to do it, if you want to try it yourself.

Appreciate your input - thanks.
I've been giving some serious thought to doing it myself. I've got the tools, OEM service manual, and some experience removing panels and seats, but never a top. My regular car guy has someone who works at a tops place for a living and is willing to install my top as a side job. Once my top arrives I'll see what he is gong to charge and when he can do it, then I'll decide.

They offered the Ez On as a substitute, but I declined.
You don't want to drive to Queens??
In the life of my 02 the top was replaced 1 time so far (one top replacement in 15 years not too bad). I went with the Robbins Hartz cloth for the replacement top, and it came with reinforced sections built in. The seams were sealed with tape, and the spots where the old top had to 2 most common holes, now have an extra layer of top material. Seems most have caught on to the common wear spot in these tops.
Top was less that $500 and still looks like new and is over 3 years old.
Car is garaged.
