Default Soft top pulling apart at seams?

Hey all,

While washing my car a few days ago I started noticing that the seam/fold above the rear window of my top seems to be slowly pulling apart. I've never seen or heard of this problem on the forums, so I was wondering if anyone has ever noticed this on their top, or if I'm just being anal? I actually went around some other s2k's that I've run across to see if it's normal, and so far I haven't seen it anywhere else. I'm afraid to put the top down now because I'm starting to get the feeling one day it might just rip apart Any ideas on if it's even fixable or if the thread would hold despite that area pulling?

I have the same problem, just don't know a way to fix it. So, I just ignore the fact that it is there although I believe my rear glass may have dropped a few cm.

I remember a year back I showed it to an upholstery shop that does soft top installs and he said, there is no fix for that other than to get a new top.

Hm.. well, that sucks. Have you continued putting the top up and down since you noticed? and if so, does it make it worse? If it's just a cosmetic issue I guess I wouldn't mind as much.. but if it gets worse each time then I guess that would make me very sad.. haha.

Yeah, I'm not sure why it does it. I assume you garage your S as well. Only thing I can see that would cause this is putting the top down or up when the top is hot from the sun.

I still continue to drop the top especially in the morning when I take the S out for a quick jog. I try not to move the top unless the car's top is cool. Either early morning or late night and if the weather is nice. Here in the deep south it's mostly really hot and humid. So, we usually get good cool weather for about 2-3 months if were lucky.
